Tired of the same old boring drinks? Take a look at these tasty and flavorful beverages from all over the world.

Dreaming of warm days spent relaxing with a refreshing beverage in your hand? Or are you bored of your regular coffee, tea, or soda routine and ready to try something new? Winter is the perfect time to try out new hot drink recipes, and there’s nothing wrong with trying out new cold beverages, too! On warm winter days, you may want to break away from the norm, stand by your space heater, and sip on a refreshing cold drink.

There are many unique drinks from all over the world to keep your taste buds on their toes. Take a look at these 8 beverages from cultures all around the world!

Papaya Lassi

Lassi, which is an Indian drink, is made up of blended fruit and yogurt. Mango lassis are very popular, which is why you may never have heard of or tried a papaya lassi. If you visit India, you can expect your lassi to be made with fresh papayas. It’ll help you cool down and (if you’re not lactose intolerant!) can help with digestion.

Onion and Garlic Juice

Are you thinking you’d rather try something a little more… savory? If you’re feeling brave, then you may want to try an onion and garlic juice concoction, which is trendy in South Korea.

This drink, which is made from black garlic juice combined with onion juice, can help your health and is specifically supposed to improve hair growth. Coca-Cola even combined onion and garlic juice with their soda and released a version in 2017!

Neer Mor

Here’s another Indian drink, but instead of cooling you down like a lassi, this one will keep you warm. Neer mor is India’s take on spiced buttermilk, and it’s a spicy treat. There are many variations, so if you try out a recipe and you don’t like it, don’t write it off forever!

Blend curds with ginger, chili, curry leaves, water, coriander leaves, and salt to start. Then add it to a tempered mixture of spices. If you’re not visiting India anytime soon, then you’ll have to make it at home. Depending on where you live, it may take time to get all the ingredients you need. But if you have an adventurous palate, it’ll be worth it!

Spiced Hot Orange Juice

I know you may be thinking, “hot orange juice?” but just give it a chance. If you’re not a hot chocolate fan or just looking for a new beverage to try, why not give hot orange juice a go? All you need is orange juice, cinnamon sticks, and fresh chili. Combine them and heat them up for a new exciting drink!

Shakerati

Italy is famous for its espresso drinks, so it should come as no surprise that the espresso-based shakerati is an Italian concoction. Like all coffee drinks, there are plenty of variations to try, so there’s room to experiment!

For this drink, all you need is ice cubes, fresh espresso, a sweetener, and a martini shaker. Your sweetener can be white sugar, simple syrup, cream, vanilla, chocolate, liqueur, or if you’re feeling extra decadent, even gelato. Combine and enjoy!

Matcha Green Tea Shake

Have you tried matcha yet? While some judges and contestants on the Great British Baking Show have described the flavor as similar to grass, don’t write it off yet!

To make a matcha green tea shake, blend matcha powder with your favorite milk, sugar, and ice. If you’d rather have a latte, just stir the powder into your milk, heat it up, and of course, skip the ice. Experiment with different sweeteners, and once you find the right combination of ingredients, you’ll have your own magic matcha recipe to enjoy…

Sicilian Almond Milk

Here’s a drink that you can make as simple or complicated as you want. For the simple version, buy almond milk. For the authentic but time-consuming version, you’ll need to make your own almond milk using high-quality blanched almonds and water. Once you have your almond milk, all you need to do is add granulated sugar and honey to the mixture. It’s simple but truly delicious.

West African Ginger Drink

Last but not least, how about a cool and refreshing ginger drink? Ginger beer is your base ingredient, but to make the West African version, you’ll need plenty of lime, black pepper, and some sugar. It’s energizing when poured over ice and it’s definitely a unique combination of ingredients!
